what is museology?

You are probably here because you asked me what my major is or because I told you and you didn't understand what Museology/Museum Studies is! Here I will give you the most frequently asked questions about my major.

"So... is it like History?" 

Not really. Although we do study history, it is not our main subject. There are many different fields of Museology. These are : Anthropology, Archeology, Paleontology, Geology, History, Preservations, Restoration of Pieces, Communication and Information, Education, and my two favorite subjects Art History and Curatorship.

"How is the job market on this field?"

Terrible.

"Why do you study it then?"

Since I was little I always loved museums and art. I'm passionate about what I'm studying.

"É tipo História então?"

Não... Tem a matéria de História no curso mas não é o foco principal do curso. Museologia abrange uma area bem extensa de matérias. Entre elas estão: Antropologia, Aqueologia, Paleontologia, Geologia, Comunicação e Informação, Educação. Conservação, Restauração, História e minhas favoritas História da Arte e Curadoria. 

"Como é o mercado de trabalho nessa área?"

Horrível.

"Porque você estuda isso então?"

Desde pequena sempre gostei de museus e arte. Eu sou apaixonada pelo o que eu estudo.
